Cedar Lake Waffle House serves up help to fallen officer’s family

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) -The Waffle House on Cedar Lake Road in Biloxi showed its support for the family of slain Biloxi Police Officer Robert McKeithen Thursday with a little something extra to go with waffles and hash browns.

On Thursday, employees and customers were busy remembering McKeithen, the guy they called "RoboCop."

“He was in here almost every single night when he was on his shift,” said John Allen Dwyer, Waffle House district manager. “He was a great customer, but he was a great guy, too. You can look on our walls, we have coffee mugs of just about all our regulars. You know, he was RoboCop, man.”

They said McKeithen was more than just a regular; he was part of the family. That’s why they’re donating 20% of Thursday’s business to McKeithen’s family.

"Man, we hope we’re slammed. We hope there’s a line out the door,” Dwyer added.

Inside the door, they served up breakfast, while customers like Marine veteran Mike Layman ate up the chance to give back to the cause.

"I wanted to thank the police officers that were here this morning and tell them I’m sorry for their loss. It’s a loss for everybody,” Layman said.
