Biloxi dentist offering free care during annual Sharing Smiles Day

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Families in Biloxi and surrounding areas will be able to receive dental treatments at no cost on May 19, during Sharing Smiles Day, an annual day of free dental care.

Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces in Biloxi said their providers will offer free dental care to uninsured and underinsured adults and children from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

“At Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces, we believe every family should have a dentist,” said Dr. David Moore. “While we’re proud to accept a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicaid and TRICARE, we also know there are adults and children in our community who do not have dental insurance and who can’t afford to pay out of pocket for needed dental treatments. Sharing Smiles Day is an opportunity for our dentists and staff to give back to families in our community and bring smiles to those in need.”

Available treatments will include dental exams, limited emergency care, extractions and restorative care, which can be completed on the day of the event.

A limited number of appointments are available, and pre-registration is required for adults, and strongly encouraged for children. Individuals seeking treatment can register on the Sharing Smiles Day website in advance.

Treatment will be given on a first-come, first-served basis and pre-registration does not guarantee treatment. Treatment offerings will be determined by the dentist.

“If left untreated, tooth decay can lead to pain, difficulty eating, sleeping or speaking, and more serious infections, some of which can be life-threatening,” Moore said. “That’s why it’s important to see a dentist regularly for preventive care before tooth decay has a chance to do lasting damage.”

The Sharing Smiles Day website provides more information on the Sharing Smiles free care day, including how to register, participating office locations, and available treatments.
