Gautier high school brothers open bustling seafood business
Killer Crab & Seafood opened May 2 to long lines and hungry customers
GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) - Drake and Chase Killingsworth opened Killer Crab & Seafood on May 2. Since day one, they said business has been booming.
“Business has been hectic. That’s the main word for it. It’s been crazy,” Drake said.
“I’m happy. I’m not real surprised because I knew we were going to be able to do it,” Chase added.
Doors opened at 9 a.m. on Saturday with a line to the street.
“We offer the best tasting crawfish,” Drake said. “Shrimp, fish. Pretty much anything seafood.”
The crawfish come from Louisiana. The brothers catch the crabs, and the shrimp are either caught or bought and resold.
A lot of people in line were at Killer Crab for the first time. The Ramos family has crawfish boil plans for Mother’s Day. They wanted to support local and young business owners.
“I think it’s awesome that they are about to graduate high school, and they’ve already got their plan going for what they want to do," said Dinorah Ramos. “They took something that they probably love to do, and they just went with it.”
It’s all hands on deck during business hours. Drake runs the front of the house while Chase manages the back, loading and separating live crawfish.
The two said they would love to open more locations in the future.
