Pedestrian hit by truck in St. Martin identified

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Washington Avenue in St. Martin Friday night.

Mississippi Highway Patrol identified the victim as 54-year-old Timothy Joseph Moran from McHenry, MS.

The accident happened around 8:55 p.m. on Washington Avenue, which is also State Highway 609, just south of Lemoyne Boulevard near the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department substation.

According to Trooper Chase Elkins, a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado was driving north when the truck crashed into the man, who was walking in the left lane of the highway.

Moran was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash and was wearing wear a seat belt, said Elkins.
