Six South Mississippi squads remained alive entering the third round of the MHSAA Baseball Playoffs, and all six enjoyed homefield advantage to start their best-of-three series.
When the dust settled Friday (May 2), three find themselves one win away from reaching South State, while the other three are just one loss away from seeing their seasons come to an end.
In the Class 6A ranks, Biloxi outlasted Brandon 3-2 while St. Martin fell at home to Oak Grove 6-3. In 5A, Pearl River Central handled North Pike 8-2 while Picayune lost 13-1 to West Jones.
St. Stanislaus fell victim to a five-inning run rule, falling 11-1 to Sumrall, while Resurrection rallied to hold off Stringer 3-2.
