BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Whether it was their undefeated run through Region 8-6A, to being ranked by MaxPreps as the 2nd-best team in the state, the Biloxi baseball team has lived up to the hype all season long.

Upon making their 2019 postseason debut, the Indians kept things rolling. After taking a 9-1 lead over Petal in game one of their second round series, Biloxi held on to outlast the Panthers 10-7. The Indians can take the series when they visit Petal tomorrow afternoon at 2.

Elsewhere in Class 6A, St. Martin run-ruled Pearl 11-1 in six innings, Harrison Central fell in walk-off fashion to Oak Grove 4-3, and George County dropped game one to Brandon 5-4.

In the Class 5A ranks, Pearl River Central scored early and often against West Harrison, beating the Hurricanes 10-4 in a South Mississippi second round showdown. Picayune did the same against Stone, beating the Tomcats 6-2, while Long Beach fell in shut-out fashion to West Jones 4-0.

In Class 4A, St. Stanislaus took game one against Northeast Lauderdale by a score of 11-4, while Poplarville fell on the road to West Lauderdale 10-2.

In a game that originally started on Thursday but resumed Friday after being suspended due to weather, St. Patrick couldn’t hold on to their 1-0 lead in the second inning, falling to Mize 9-3.

Resurrection made a statement in their series opener against Vardaman, winning 9-0.

Just three South Mississippi softball teams took the field Friday, but two certainly made it count.

Locked into a scoreless pitcher’s duel with George County, Fallon Groves knocked an RBI single to right, leading Ocean Springs to a 1-0 walk-off win over the Lady Rebels.

Meanwhile, the Harrison Central Red Rebelettes took care of business against Brandon, taking game one 8-2.
