The next storm system will bring the potential for heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms across all of South Mississippi on Thursday and Thursday night. There is a low risk for damaging storms; severe damaging weather will be possible but not likely across South Mississippi. The main threats with any severe damaging thunderstorms will be damaging straight-line winds and a few tornadoes. Additionally, there will be a low risk for flooding rainfall during the same time frame on Thursday and Thursday night, with the potential for multiple rounds of thunderstorms over an extended duration anywhere within southern Mississippi. Rainfall totals between 1.5 and 3 inches may be possible, with the potential for locally higher amounts which may lead to flash flooding concerns. A few light rain showers may linger early Friday, but the weather will be clearing up by Friday afternoon. And the weekend should be sunny and warm with no rain on Saturday or Sunday.
