St. Stanislaus survives and advances; full 4/22 baseball playoff recap
Gulfport forces game three against Pearl
BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - With their season hanging in the balance, the St. Stanislaus baseball team delivered when they needed it most.
Trailing Purvis 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Rock-A-Chaws plated three runs to walk off the Tornadoes 3-2 and win a series-deciding game three. St. Stanislaus now advances to the second round of the 4A Playoffs to play the winner of Richland and Northeast Lauderdale.
Elsewhere in the Class 4A ranks, Pass Christian nearly put Sumrall on upset alert.
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the first, then threatened again in the third thanks to a Logan Webb stand-up triple with no outs. However, Pass Christian couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity, and Sumrall went on to win game three 4-1 to take the series.
Over at the Herb, Gulfport outlasted Pearl 6-4 to force a series-deciding game three to be played on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Stone beat Natchez 7-6 to advance to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs, while East Central’s season came to an end in a 4-1 loss to Greene County.
