PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Those Who Serve Car Club held its second car show to raise money for our nation’s troops Saturday.
Dozens got together at VFW Post 3733 in Pascagoula for the love of cars and supporting the troops.
“There’s more than just going out and saying support the troops,” said Chris Rodriguez, founder of Those Who Serve. "Coming out to events like this and financially helping veterans that might not be able to help themselves is definitely what we are here for today.”
David Childress said he enjoyed soaking up the good weather.
“Camaraderie, meeting new friends and just relaxing out here. It’s a beautiful day. Get to show off your cars,” he said.
With young car lovers in tow, the event had fun events like an Easter egg hunt and a toy car race.
Rodriguez said his goal is to bring together people with passion.
“We let all kinds of patriots in. Anybody that’s willing to help out and do good for the community, help out in the community, we welcome them in the club,” he said.
Some of the vendors, like food truck owner True Paisely, have a personal connection to the military.
“I did 21 years in the world’s greatest United States Air Force,” Paisley said.
Through his business True Wings, he hopes to show how when the uniform is retired, the dream doesn’t have to stop.
“To let the veterans know to believe in their dreams and with hard work, they can make their dreams come true,” he said.
With a bigger turnout than in the first year, Those Who Serve hopes to grow the event and support for the troops for years to come.
Saturday’s car and bike show raised nearly $2,000 for VFW Post 3733.
