BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - There was a big turnout Saturday morning as the city of Biloxi filled spots for its popular summer camp.
Parents lined up outside the Donald M. Snyder Sr. Community Center hoping to score their kids a spot in the city’s Summer Playground and Enrichment Program.
City officials said within the first hour of the doors opening at 9 a.m., at least three dozen families had registered.
One mom said the summer camp is a great way to keep her young ones active, physically and mentally.
“Really love it. Lots of fun. They get to have lots of fun all summer,” said Robin Sniffen. “Go swimming. Go on the playgrounds. Keep them active. Keep them from loafing around and begging to play video games all summer.”
Saturday’s registration was only open to those who live in Biloxi. Families outside of Biloxi can register by visiting the Parks and Recrecation Department on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through May 17.
The summer camp is open to children ages 5 to 11. There’s also a teen camp for ages 12 to 14 and a sun camp for mentally and physically challenged children.
Camp starts June 3.
