BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Friday, the Slavic Benevolent Association served up a special dish to celebrate Good Friday at the Croatian American Cultural Center in Biloxi.
Members enjoyed Baccala, which is a cod and potato soup dish that has been served for generations, and has its origins in Finland.
The feast wasn't designed as a fundraiser, but a way to bring members together to enjoy a traditional fish-based meal for Good Friday.
“I’m 85-years-old right now and I’ve eaten it since I was probably about four or five years old,” Marion “Stag” Pitalo said. “We’ve had people that came in from out of town just to eat it.”
Baccala is also a popular, traditional dish to serve on Christmas Eve.
