LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - The Mississippi Gaming Commission approved a location in Long Beach as a legal casino site. The Gaming Commission held a special meeting Wednesday afternoon in Gulfport.
“This is the first step of many to come," said Long Beach Mayor George Bass. "The next step is for the developer to secure financing and to show it’s a viable project, one that will support the Long Beach school system and the city.”
“We’re delighted with the gaming commission approval of the site as a legal gaming site," said Jim Parrish, a partner with Long Beach Harbor Resorts. "We look forward to moving to the next step, which is to secure funding for the project. We also look forward to working with the City of Long Beach on the architectural design of the project.”
Bass added that any casino plans will have to be approved by the city’s architectural review board.
