MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Moss Point Schools' superintendent will get another three years at the helm. The board voted 4-1 to extend Shannon Vincent-Raymond’s contract for another three years.
She said in part, “I am just as humbled and excited about the extension as I was upon hire in 2015. I feel confident in the direction that the district is going in.”
Vincent-Raymond said she’s looking forward to another term with the Tigers. She was hired in 2015. Before that, Vincent-Raymond served as principal at Pascagoula Opportunity Center for three years.
Of her contract extension, Vincent-Raymond said, "I am thankful to have the opportunity to continue this journey as a Tiger with some of the best administrators, teachers, support staffs, and competitive students.
"The biggest lesson I have learned over the past 3.5 years in Moss Point is its pride in its history, culture, people, and legacy. As we move into the next 3 years, I look forward to working more with MPSD families, and our community and corporate partners who have helped move the district to where we are now. Combined, we all have to invest in our children to accomplish the goal that we all want for our school district - to improve.
"We are not where we want to be but we are better than we were. We are striving for growth. Moss Point School District can compete with the rest of the districts on the Gulf Coast.
"I’m blessed to be able to work for a board and community who are equally passionate about the youth and the success of our district.
"Friday was day 1 and we have work to do. Whatever it takes isn’t just a slogan, it’s our guiding principle to moving Moss Point forward.
