OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - One year after the death of beloved Ocean Springs teacher Courtney Hubbard, the community will once again gather in her honor. This time, to help others.
A blood drive in memory of Hubbard is being held this weekend, just days after the one-year anniversary of her death.
A lifetime resident of Ocean Springs, Hubbard spent 18 years teaching young children at Pecan Park Elementary. She died Jan. 23, 2018, at the age of 40 after battling breast cancer for years. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2009. A few years later, the cancer metastasized and went to her liver and bones.
The Blood Center will host a blood drive in her memory from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at In the Zone in Ocean Springs. You can register ahead of time by signing up online.
