Tumbling temperatures this evening

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The risk for severe weather has ended across South Mississippi. Temperatures are expected to take a tumble Saturday evening into the day on Sunday, Low temperatures Sunday morning are expected to be in the 30s with wind chill values in the teens and 20s.


Once the front moves through a shift out of the west will take place then eventually the northwest. Winds will gust over 25 mph at times and make wind chills on Sunday stay in the 20s and 30s. Gale warnings are in effect through Sunday morning over the water for dangerous seas and high winds.


Highs will struggle to get out of the 40s with gusty north winds and gradually clearing skies.

The cold air comes in just as a total lunar eclipse will be visible Sunday night. It looks like clear skies, but very cold conditions will be around for viewing. Bundle up!

A total lunar eclipse will be visible in South Mississippi on Sunday, Jan 20, 2019 (weather permitting). It will start around 9:34PM. Totality begins around 10:41 PM and the moon will appear reddest around 11:12 PM. That's all if clouds are out of the picture. It does appear at the time of this posting 6:30 PM 1.13.18 that a strong cold front will clear us out on Sunday, but bitter cold temperatures will also be something to consider when going outside.
