Pascagoula High host 2019 Panther Classic

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - The Pascagoula Panthers hosted their annual Panther Classic which featured several teams from the coast and pine belt.

Tournament play kicked off with 'Goula’s girls team playing host to Quitman in a ‘Panther versus Panther’ dual. Although Quitman was able to stall Pascagoula in the third quarter, 'Goula’s offense was too much to overcome as the Lady Panthers grabbed the 43-33 victory.

Germantown and West Harrison took the floor afterwards, and if you like scoring, this was the game to watch! From the start, the Mavericks were hot on both sides of the ball, knocking down shots from the perimeter to turning defense to offense by converting on the Hurricanes early mistakes to jump out to an early 10-0 lead. West Harrison regrouped and got it going, eventually leading late into the game. The last minute of this matchup ended with both squads trading baskets, several lead changes, and a foul on a last-second heave by the Mavericks that ultimately gave Germantown a 1-point victory, defeating West Harrison 60-59.

After that thriller, Gulfport squared off against Oak Grove. The Admirals overwhelmed the Warriors early with all of the contributors they had on offense and it would cause Oak Grove to play from behind from start to finish. Gulfport took a 40-23 lead going into halftime and cruise to a 69-49 victory in the end.
