Prior to the Biloxi boys basketball game, the team honored the legend who the tournament is named after - former Biloxi basketball coach Jackie Laird.
Laird received a standing ovation as he walked to midcourt to receive a plaque and gifts from his former player and now head boys basketball coach Seber Windham. In his 24 years at Indian nation, Laird led Biloxi to five district titles, five division titles, one south state title, and two back-to-back state titles in 1989 and 1990.
""It means so much, " Laird told WLOX. Over the years coaching a bunch of great ball players and Seber played for me and they think enough of me to put on a tournament for me. It means a lot. The best kids in the world played basketball for me and I love them to death."
