BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Anti-holiday signs, grapes humming through the air, and airmen in riot gear. It was definitely an unusual training exercise happening outside Keesler Air Force Base on Wednesday.
Protesters surrounded the White Avenue gate outside the base, waving signs and even throwing things. While it made quite a sight, it was all just part of a training exercise.
The unusual training included a few dozen “protesters” armed with signs that had some interesting demands. One of the signs read, “7 days > 1 day. Give us a Hanukkah off.” Another said: “All I want for Christmas is for it to be over.”
Airmen wearing riot gear stood in a row, facing off against the mock protesters while grapes hummed through the air, splattering against their shields and covering the ground.
The gate was closed for one hour as part of the “security forces readiness exercise.”
