GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) confirmed to WLOX News Now no foul play was suspected in the sudden death of a Navy Seabee who was shot and killed over the weekend in Biloxi.
Builder Constructionman Grace Kayla Davis-Marcheschi, 23, died early Saturday morning at Keesler Air Force Base military housing units. It happened in the East Falcon housing neighborhood. Details are limited about the shooting but officials at Keesler tell us the base was never put on lock down.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is handling the investigation. No details have been provided about the circumstances leading up to the shooting. There also has not been any information given on whether any arrests have been made.
Davis-Marcheschi, who is originally from Oregon, was currently assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 but was temporarily assigned to NCBC Security Office as an augmentee to the security force. She has been assigned to NMCB 133 since Jan. 8, 2018.
Marcheschi began her career at NCBC as a student at the Naval Construction Training Center Sept. 9, 2017. She graduated from the Builder Constructionman course Nov. 22, 2017.
