PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - After more than three years, teachers in Pass Christian got their first look at where they'd be teaching this fall.
"I'm so excited to be here you just have no idea," Linda Windley said.
The new campus will house the elementary, middle school, an early-education daycare, and the Boys and Girls Club.
For eighth grade science teacher Michele Bang, a new teacher when Hurricane Katrina hit, it's overwhelming.
"This is beautiful, breath-taking. Tears are flowing. This is truly amazing," Bang said. "You don't know where to begin. You don't where to end. As soon as you think you're finished, there's something else to see."
Teachers say students will likely be just as amazed by the new campus as they are.
"We've been in trailers for three years, so I think they're just going to be looking around, cause it's all going to be new to them and big," Windley said.
Bang said her new lab will offer learning opportunities her students have never experienced.
"There are so many activities we can do. It will be so beneficial to the students to get a real understanding of what a science lab is like. This is more than I ever anticipated, more than I ever dreamed of," Bang said.
Judging by the excitement of these teachers, Bang wasn't the only one left with that impression after seeing the new school.
Construction is expected to wrap up in May.
