Long Beach soccer coach arrested for molestation

By WLOX Staff

LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - A Long Beach soccer coach is in the Harrison County jail, charged with three counts of child molestation.

Police arrested Louie Garcia the third Wednesday after school officials contacted them. Garcia is a coach with the South Mississippi Soccer Association. Police say the incidents started in 2007 and involved three girls between the ages of 9 and 13.

Assistant Police Chief Don Bass has a message for parents.

"We hope that this is it, hoping it's limited to these three girls. If they do have any doubts to talk to their children and if they have any doubts to please contact us," Bass said.

Bass said the association did a background check on Garcia, but he had no criminal record.

Garcia is being held at the Harrison County jail on a $600,000 bond.
