GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport police believe they've found the man who shot another man in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon at Hewes Avenue and 26th Street.
Police say Ja'Nard Wydell Brister, 21, was hiding under a nearby house after the shooting. K-9's led them to the suspect. Brister is charged with aggravated assault.
An eyewitness told police that around 3pm she drove up to her apartment. That's when a bleeding man came toward her car saying he had been shot. She said she tried to get the young man inside to call for help, but then another man started shooting at them from across the street. She was able to get the injured man inside and call the police.
The victim was still in the hospital Wednesday night. Police said he had been shot in the chest, but no other information was available on his condition.
