King D'Iberville reigns over Biloxi

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway continued a long time coast tradition Tuesday when he presented the key to the city to King D'Iberville Rick Carter.

King D'Iberville and Queen Ixolib, Dewey Elise Brashier, stopped at City Hall before leading the Gulf Coast Carnival Association parade down the streets of Biloxi. There, the mayor and others toasted the royal couple, as confetti cannons punctuated the start of the festivities.

Tuesday was the GCCA's 101st year to parade in Biloxi. This year, 118 units took part. This year's theme was "Islands Around the World."

Captain of Carnival was Gavin Schmidt; Kenny Holloway served as Lieutenant of Carnival.
