D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - A man who police say robbed a D'Iberville bank Tuesday morning probably should have devoted more time to planning his getaway. After holding up the Community Bank on Sangani Blvd., the man drove south on I-110 into Biloxi on one of the busiest traffic days of the year.

Police say it started just before 10am when the man entered the bank with a BB gun. He got cash from two tellers and drove off in a silver Lincoln.

As the man made his getaway, two bank employees hopped in a car and followed him. Police just caught up with a suspected bank robber on I-110 at Bayview Avenue.

David Joel Silver, 31, of Biloxi was arrested by D'Iberville Police and charged with Bank Robbery.

The suspected robber was headed into the heart of Biloxi, where folks are staking out their spots for this afternoon's Gulf Coast Carnival Association parade. Several roads in the area are already blocked off and extra officers are on patrol.

Captain Keith Davis said the success of Silver's apprehension resulted from "the bank employees' awareness to details, good police work/cooperation between agencies and a little luck." Captain Davis also commended the Biloxi Police Department for the immediate assistance provided during the investigation.
