Gautier Shooting Kills One, Injures Two Others

One man is dead, another is in jail and two others are fighting for their lives after a shoot-out in Gautier. The violence erupted at the Bellview Apartments on Ladnier Road in Gautier around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Police haven't talked about a motive yet or what charges may be filed.

Dozens of people heard the shooting and saw the aftermath right outside their doors. Neighbors at the Bellview apartments say gunshots and violence are common, but what they saw Wednesday was as bad as it gets.

"I was in my bathtub when I heard. I looked out my window and saw everybody running, so I came through the breezeway. I seen one of the guys who was shot twice running and he fell to the ground," Joycelyn Agge said.

"Anybody in their right mind would not have know they were gunshots," Demetris Macnutt said.

When the shooting stopped near building number nine, three men had been hit. One man died just outside the doorway of apartment G.

The emotion and shock overcame neighbors, friends and family members who looked on as the coroner took the dead man away. Many residents say Bellview has had problems with violence before. Most believe drugs are the cause.

"It ain't worth it. It's about a drug. Don't none of them stay out here, and it makes it harder for us who stay out here," Agge said.

Heavy rain slowed investigators as they searched the apartment's ground for evidence. They found two handguns.

"I'm going to move. I'm moving mine out because mine could've been out there bustin. She could've been laying there," Agge said.
