BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Twenty four hours after winning the largest slot machine jackpot in Mississippi history, Thomas McMillan is feeling "relieved."

The Woolmarket man says it's beginning to sink in that he actually won a $14,000,000 jackpot.

What was Mr. McMillan the new millionaire up to the day after his big win? Doing what he enjoys at his favorite slot machine.

It's the sound slot players love, when the machine stops spinning and the winner's music begins.

For Shellene Langfitt, it was a nearly four thousand dollar jackpot.

"I got lucky. Came out for lunch. Used my extra credit points and hit a jackpot," Langfitt said.

She's well aware of what happened in the lucky seat less than 24 hours earlier. A Wheel of Fortune progressive, a maximum bet, and a $14 million jackpot.

"I wish it was me. And I hoped they were local. And they were. So that's great to hear," she said.

Chris Kern is marketing director for Hard Rock Casino Biloxi.

"People came out from every corner of the casino to see what was going on. We had to rope off the area. There was a lot of excitement going on. It was a fun afternoon," he said.

"Two jackpots so far. Both $1,200," said Dena Reed from Mobile.

She's a Hard Rock regular who has her favorite machines, which happen to be near where the big jackpot hit.

"I just have certain machines I like to play that usually pay me. And it's usually five dollar slots," said Reed.

In the five minutes we watched her gamble, she wasn't kidding. She quickly hit 7-7-7 and a $1,500 jackpot.

Thomas McMillan knows that winning feeling, multiplied about 10,000 times.

"I'll take a shot at it," said McMillan.

We found him back in the same slot machine saddle, tempting lady luck once more.

His stimulus package was reels-to-riches.

"You know, with the economy things weren't looking the greatest. But now her and I can live our lives out and do whatever we want," he said.

He's enjoying his 15 minutes of fame and laughs about being an inspiration to other slot players.

"I'm glad to hear that. I'm sure Hard Rock is glad to hear that too!" said the smiling millionaire.

Thomas McMillan says he's received "a few calls" since his big jackpot win. The retiree says he's pleased his story can be used to promote Hard Rock, Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
