Action Report update: Bay couple gets deposit back

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - A WLOX News Action Report had a happy ending for a Bay St Louis couple.

Back in late December, Vickie and David Carr of Bay St. Louis purchased a manufactured home from Karsten Gallery of Homes in Gulfport. Carr said he put down a $5,000 deposit on the used home, but later found out from salesman Terry Lanning that the manufactured home had been sold to someone else.

When the Carrs asked for their money back, they didn't get it. That's when they contacted Action Reporter A.J. Giardina. His story on the Carrs aired January 27.

On Friday of last week, salesman Terry Lanning handed Vickie Carr $5,000 in cash.

"Terry Lanning just gave me my money... and I hold him in liability of nothing and for good faith he gave me $5,000 back of my money," Vickie Carr told WLOX News.

Carr said she has dropped a complaint she filed with the State Attorney General's office against Lanning. Karsten Gallery of Homes is no longer in business in Gulfport.
