Music lovers on the Mississippi Coast got quite a treat Sunday, especially those who grew up loving the "Sound of Music".
The "Coast Community Concert Series" was proud to present Elisabeth Von Trapp. The singer songwriter grew up much as her father did: with the sound of music throughout her home.
Von Trapp said, "We would sing everyday, evenings we would have our list that we wanted to sing with my father, there was always music."
That love of music turned into a successful career for Elisabeth, who tours America performing just as her father's Austrian family did after fleeing the Nazis in the late Thirties. Her romantic, original music and clear, tender, voice keeps the audience mesmerized.
She said, "The music that I present I a mixture of the classical and the old world brining it in to the new world into the new music and my own music and I tell the story of my life and my background. It's real exciting."
Elisabeth Von Trapp performs again Monday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Laurel at First Trinity Presbyterian Church, and then Tuesday, October 22, in Vicksburg at the City Auditorium, also at 7:30 p.m.. If you would like to hear Von Trapp's music, her CD is called "One Heart, One Mind".
