Almost every day we hear of another company laying off hundreds if not thousands of workers. No doubt this is a challenging time in our nation's history. However, in all of this gloom and doom it is refreshing to hear about entrepreneurs in South Mississippi who are willing to take a chance on our local economy.
Recently we reported that in Pascagoula alone eight new businesses are scheduled to come on line in the next few months. Across the coast we are hearing the same story, new small businesses are opening their doors.
Many of these are neighborhood restaurants and coffee houses. Others are specialty shops that will cater to a specific audience.
We urge you to look around our community and see if there is a new business in your neighborhood. If there is, give them some business and let them know that you appreciate their entrepreneurial spirit. And of course remember to shop at your local favorite stores. Our local merchants are depending on us to help them get thorough these difficult times.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post your comments below.
