Within the next month or so, the rebuilding of Highway 90 in Harrison County will be complete.
It's a beautiful state of the art gateway across south Mississippi. We certainly deserve this new road, after traveling the Katrina ravaged thoroughfare for more than three years.
Now each city and the county need to step up and make sure the medians along 90 look good.
Some cities already put a lot of time, energy and money into planting and maintaining the green space along the highway. Others do not.
Many areas are overgrown eyesores that need to be cleaned up, trimmed up, and replanted with beautiful south Mississippi plants, trees and flowers.
In the past, there has been too much fingerpointing over whether the county or the cities are responsible for the upkeep on the medians.
Drivers and visitors don't care who's responsible. Messy medians make the entire coast look bad.
Now is the time to stop the fingerpointing, and 'start' cooperating to make the medians as beautiful as the new Highway 90.
