State Farm expanding coverage in Mississippi

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - State Farm is expanding its insurance offerings in Mississippi. The company announced Wednesday that it will allow current policyholder to go back to two-percent hurricane deductibles, instead of the higher five-percent deductibles. That will apply to property owners north of I-10 and customers will have to have their auto policies with State Farm to qualify.

State Farm will also begin writing renters insurance policies in Mississippi again, except in the three coastal counties.

Company spokesman David Majors told WLOX News Wednesday that State Farm's expansion of coverage in Mississippi is good news for customers, especially coming one day after State Farm told Florida officials the company wanted to drop more than a million customers in that state.
