Climb Youth Build helping teens succeed

LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - Teens from around the area who may be slipping through the cracks still have a chance to climb the ladder of success. Through the efforts of Climb Youth Build, and the International Relief and Development organization, self esteem and mental toughness are being taught to at risk teens and young adults.

Tuesday, our very own Elise Roberts shared her insights about why coming up with an outline for your life is so important. Half of the people at Tuesday's seminar will be chosen to participate in Climb Youth Build's next nine month program.

"Confidence that they can conquer anything that they set their minds to. Hopefully, they'll have their education, because that will be the foundation of anything that they want to do in the future. And they'll also have teamwork, because we'll focus on teamwork and respecting others and working together," Youth Build Case Manager Jimie Cuevas said.

Climb Youth Build makes it possible for high school dropouts to earn their GEDs. Everyone enrolled in the program also gets a chance to work on rebuilding a hurricane damaged home in Gulfport.
