Arrest Made In Gulfport Teen's Murder

23 year old Jason Glen Taylor of Ocean Springs was arrested Monday, and charged with capital murder for the killing of 18 year old Michelle Cazeaux. Gulfport Police say tips from the public led to Taylor's arrest at an apartment in East Gulfport.

Sunday morning, the manager of the General Nutrition Store on Highway 49 found the teen dead near a storeroom. Cazeaux had worked the night shift Saturday. Investigators say Taylor robbed the store and then beat the young woman to death.

Michelle Cazeaux lived in Gulfport and attended Gulfport High at one time. People who knew and loved her were shocked to hear of her brutal murder.

Teachers, counselors, and students described her as friendly and outgoing. They say Michelle was a person who liked to have fun and was easy to talk to.

Many students and teachers were too upset to talk to on camera, but some wanted others to know what a wonderful person she was.

Michelle's friend Jamaro McNair described her as, "A special person. A gifted person."

Her 9th grade Principal Mike Tatum also remembered Michelle as an outgoing young woman.

"A very good student. The kid was well liked in the classroom. One of her greatest assets was art. She loved art. Mingled in the hall with all the kids. Just a good kid," Tatum said.

Gulfport police won't say if Jason Glen Taylor knew or had any connection to Michelle Cazeaux or the GNC store. They say the case is still under investigation.

As of Monday night, Taylor was in the Harrison County Detention Center being held without bond.
