OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Work is set to begin on Fort Maurepas Park in Ocean Springs.

The multi-million dollar revitalization project includes new structures on an outline of the original fort footprint, a pavilion, a children's spray park, and a play structure in the form of an old wooden ship, reminiscent of the historic d'Iberville landing.

Construction is set to begin in early February with the public opening slated for summer 2009.

The project is funded by FEMA, Mississippi Tideland Trust Fund Grant, Community Development Block Grant, Katrina donations, and private donors.
