MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - The city of Moss Point's reverse osmosis water system is now up and running. The system was turned on Tuesday at 1:30 in the afternoon. It will take a few days to reach all points of the city, but this is a vast improvement over what the city has been dealing with for years.

"We have had problems with our water for a long time," Moss Point Mayor Xavier Bishop told WLOX News. "City leaders first began talking about going to this system about eight years ago, but there have been a lot of problems along the way."

Those problems the mayor alluded to included Hurricane Katrina and funding issues, but now it's all behind them.

Moss Point's new water system is one of only four reverse osmosis systems in Mississippi. Most of the $12 million cost is being paid for by the state.
