MDOT to work on I-20 bridge

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Work is scheduled to being next week on a $5 million project to make repairs on the Interstate 20 bridge south of downtown Jackson.

Mississippi Department of Transportation officials say the work will include construction of a temporary off-ramp at Gallatin Street and the placement of temporary supports underneath the I-20 westbound bridge over U.S. Highway 51/State Street.

Work is scheduled for completion in August 2009. MDOT says once this project, another contract will be awarded to replace the I-20 westbound bridge. MDOT says traffic delays will be kept to a minimum.
