2 arrested in Poplarville armed robbery

POPLARVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Friday evening, the Poplarville Police Department recieved a call from a concerned citizen saying two men had just parked on the street got out of the vehicle and left on foot. Officers arrived at the scene to investigate the call. 

Officers could not locate the men who had parked the vehicle. Upon investigation the officers discovered that the vehicle was unlocked and the keys were in the ignition. Officers took the keys from the vehicle and locked the vehicle. 

Later the same evening Sonic was robbed at gun point by two masked men. The robbers brandishing firearms entered the Sonic just after close of business and demanded money.

The robbers took what money was in the store and put the employees in the cooler before making their escape. Within a few minutes of receiving the 911 call from Sonic, dispatch received another 911 call from the aforementioned concerned citizen advising that the two men who had left the vehicle parked on their street had returned and were attempting to get back in the vehicle. 

Officers responded to the area of the locked vehicle and subsequently located the two suspects believed to be responsible for the robbery of Sonic.

Jay Magee, 20 years old, and Palanstea Williams, 19 years old, both of Franklinton, LA were arrested and charged with armed robbery. 

Several surrounding agencies are also investigating the suspects for possible connection to robberies in their jurisdictions.

    A Jackson County man is facing felony charges after authorities say he messaged the wife of a school resource officer, threatening to harm the entire family.
