Family Sues Personal Care Home

A $16 million lawsuit contends that a Gulf Coast personal care home is liable in the death of 77-year-old man, who died after wandering away from the facility.

Bobbie Richardson had lived at Southern Heritage Personal Care Home for about a month when he strayed from the home on the morning of April 4th. Police found his body nine days later in a creek near Southern Heritage.

Richardson's daughter, Rebecca Dannelley, claims in the lawsuit that she told employees at Southern Heritage that Richardson suffered from a debilitating injury resulting in dementia. The suit alleges that the home failed to monitor Richardson and take other precautions.

The suit was filed in Harrison County and represents only one side of the legal argument.
