PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Singing River Hospital System is getting a new name, just in time for the new year. Beginning January 1, 2009, the health care provider will be known as Singing River Health System.
"I am excited about this name change, principally because it reflects the full range of services that we are providing in both of our two hospitals and throughout the community," said Chris Anderson, SRHS Chief Executive Officer.
Singing River Health System began in 1931 as Jackson County Hospital. Today the health care system includes Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula and Ocean Springs Hospital, with 571 total licensed beds, as well as five outlying community medical clinics, dedicated Centers of Excellence (including cancer, heart, neurosciences, bariatric, and hyperbaric/wound care services), and other affiliated programs including Hospice of Light.
