Jackson County Group brightens the spirits of a needy family with large donation

Gautier, MS (WLOX) - The ladies from Divine Women in Action are excited and eager to bring more than five hundred dollars worth of Christmas toys and goodies to four special kids in Jackson County

"It is a surprise because when it is expected it does not mean as much. We have some bikes for them and a Xbox 360," Group member Antisha Brown said.

The group says this is the first time the children won't be spending Christmas with their mom; Barshander Washington recently died in a horrible car accident.

"We know it was a tragedy for them to lose their mom, and We want them to know it is not over. This is just a bump in the road, but we are here to help them get through it," Brown said.

The Christmas Caravan set off to grandmother's home for the big holiday surprise.

The family of kids were shocked and overjoyed when the group arrived  bearing gifts. The three boys and the little girl just had to get their hands on the new presents.

Grandmother Regina Jackson couldn't hold in her emotions.

"You all have really made a difference in life," Jackson said.

Group member Tabbitha Mosley says  the organization's goal is to spread love, cheer, and support kids during hard times.

"I couldn't not imagine what they could be going through, so us doing this little bit for these kids means something just to put smile on their faces," Mosley said.
