HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Harrison County and Biloxi investigators scoured through a 2000 Ford Taurus, a car they believe holds the clues that could solve the murder of a Gulfport teenager.

Seventeen year old Shakeylia Anderson was killed last Friday in a remote wooded area on Highway 15. That's where hunters discovered her body the following day.

"The body was nude at the time it was located," said Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara. "It appeared that she was raped and was killed by the vehicle running over her. She was run over by a vehicle several times, and it was very hard to identify her at the time."

Sheriff Brisolara says the evidence they found led them to the suspect -- 25 year old Leslie Galloway of Moss Point. They found Galloway this week, sitting in the Jackson County Jail.

"He was picked up in Jackson County on unrelated charges, for traffic violations and unpaid fines," said Brisolara. "And he was out on bond from a 2003 sexual assault charge."

Investigators searched a Ford Taurus, the car they say, Galloway had been driving. And the sheriff says that's where they found more evidence.

"There was hair and flesh located underneath the vehicle that we took as evidence, and that's what led to the charges that we charged him with capital murder," he said.

The sheriff says Galloway and Shakeylia Anderson were acquaintances. He's still trying to track down the motive.

"I'm just glad that we have him in the Harrison County jail and he's charged with a crime that he committed," said Sheriff Brisolara. "The investigation is still ongoing. We're going to see if this leads in any other directions, but we feel confident that we have the man who committed the murder."

Leslie Galloway is being held without bond in the Harrison County jail.
