D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Kids of all ages hit the field Saturday. But this event was more than just a day in the park. These kids are trying out their skills on some heavy hitters.

Athletic Director of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Ladd Taylor said, "I think our football players have more fun than the kids. They really have a good time."

Taylor, is getting his team involved on and off the field so is his competition.

Bert Williams is the Athletic Director of Georgia Military College.

"We can kind of carry the mission out in a different area, we were real excited," Williams said. "This is probably one of the best bowl experiences we've ever had."

After practice, both teams spent some time with kids from The Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast.

Greg Gipson is the director of operations for The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast.

"It's been a win-win situation with all parties involved," Gipson said. "Not only are they know saying, 'I want to be a football player,' but they have the education piece of it, too. They know that they have to perform in the classroom in order to perform on the football field."

He says the club has always tried to focus on education and health. Now, with a new partnership with the Mississippi Bowl, he hopes these kids learn that it is important to give their all both on and off the field.
