BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Mississippi Bowl will be played on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at 2:00pm at Biloxi Indian Stadium. The inaugural bowl pits the champion from Mississippi Junior College Athletic Association against the highest nationally ranked team not going to a bowl game. This year's bowl features MGCCC Bulldogs and Georgia Military College. WLOX will be show the game live on our website and on our 24/7 Weather Channel on CableOne Channel 61.
The bowl will pay out $10,000 for each team, compared to the $7,500 per-team payout from other bowl organizations. It will be one of only six bowl games involving Community/Junior College teams in 2008.
While the teams are on the coast, they will catch a Mississippi Seawolves game on Friday. On Saturday, teams will practice and participate in Boys and girls Club Field Day events. The the big game will take place at 2:00pm on Sunday.
After the game, there will be the presentation of the NJCAA Hall of Honor plaque to A.J. Kilpatrick which will be presented by Jay Miller, MDCC Head Football Coach. Trophy and MVP presentations will be presented on field, and then there will be the presentation of MS Bowl Player of the Year.
