Bulgarian Foreign Exchange Student Stranded In South Mississippi

Sixteen year old Vince Kirkov dreamed of coming to America most of his life.

His family in Bulgaria made great sacrifices to be able to pay for him to become a Foreign Exchange student so he could live with an American family for one year and attend high school.

Vince arrived in South Mississippi last week with hundreds of other exchange students, only to find out his host family backed out of the program because of personal family problems. Now he's looking for some much needed Southern Hospitality.

Vince is a funny, wonderful young man. If you would like to open your heart and your home to him, call the program's coordinator Glenda Anders at 1-877-539-2303 or 228-669-2079.

If you host a Foreign Exchange Student you get a $50 tax deduction each month that they live with you.

Mississippi Public Service Commissioner Cecil Brown spoke Thursday morning at the Neshoba County Fair. And a portion of his remarks focused on the Kemper County lignite plant roughly 30 miles from the fairgrounds. "The Kemper story is not over," the commissioner said, "but one way or another it is nearing the end." Brown used part of his speech to explain the latest developments between his agency and Mississippi Power regarding its $7.5 billion plant.
