BILOXI, MS. (WLOX)- Murray Aronson is just one of those people who doesn't take well to retirement.
"I would get up in the morning and I didn't know why I was there," says Aronson. "I didn't know what to do with myself."
He's never been one to back down from a challenge either.
"I was bet 100 dollars that I couldn't get a job at the age of 75. So I applied. It was the first job I applied for."
That was 10 years ago and at 85 years old he's still at work as a Players Club Representative at Boomtown Casino.
"Murray is here every day," says General Manager Chett Harrison. "He's always up beat and positive and we wish everyone was like Murray."
And since he doesn't like days off, his Boomtown Coworkers made sure everyone knew this day was special.
"Today is Mr. Murray's 85th birthday," Marketing Manager Sandra Kirk announces over the intercom.
A quick rendition of Happy Birthday to you and a taste of cake was all Murray made time for. Then it was back to work doing what he loves,.. meeting and helping customers.
"I don't feel 85. I feel 98," Aronson jokes with a customer.
Murray especially enjoys meeting new people every day. He's says it's easy work, for a World War Two veteran, with 30 years experience as a Department of Defense Oceanographer.
"It's the easiest job I've ever had in my life. I worked on the Poseidon Polaris program for the last 10 years of my government experience. That was work."
But for a man who's faced many challenges, it's his last career choice that's proven to be the best bet Murray Aronson ever won.
