Happy Thanksgiving everyone. For many of us it is a day to be together with family and friends. It is also a day for reflection on what we have to be thankful for in the past year.
In South Mississippi it appears we escaped another year without a major hurricane. Hopefully this will help to continue the stabilization of the insurance industry. And, after a year of high gas prices it appears the cost of gasoline is coming down. We are seeing prices consistently below two dollars a gallon. Hopefully that will help to boost our struggling economy.
Yes, the economy is rough right now. But it could be so much worse. We are hopeful our local, state and federal leaders will all lead us into better times.
And we are thankful that more than three years after Hurricane Katrina, volunteers are still coming to our area to help with our rebuilding. Each week we bring you stories of another home being built by a volunteer group. Without this kindness and generosity the coast would not be as far along as it is.
So today take a second and reflect on this past year. What are you thankful for?
