Long Beach armed robbery suspects in custody

LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - Two men are in custody after an armed robbery in Long Beach. At 7:50am on Friday, Long Beach Police responded to a call that two people who had been the victims of armed robbery in the Waffle House parking lot at Jeff Davis and Highway 90.

Police say one person's wallet was stolen during the robbery.  After the crime, the victims followed the suspects in their own vehicle, providing police with the suspect's location.  An officer responded and located the two vehicles on Railroad Street.  The suspects turned onto S. Ida Lane, which is a dead end street.

When police followed the suspects onto South Ida Lane, the driver of the victim's vehicle turned intot he police car.  When the suspects reached the dead end street, they fled on foot.

At 9:01, William J. Thomas, 25, of Long Beach was aprehended in the back yard of a residence on Gates Avenue and taken into custody.

At 9:42, Kurtis A. Emmert, 20, of Gulfport was apprehended near Gates Avenue and Allen Roads.

Both suspects are charged with two counts of armed robbery and taken to Harrison County Jail on $100,000 bond each set by Justice Court Judge Ray.

Law enforcement notified schools and First Baptist Church once the suspects fled, and the schools were on their lock down procedure for the safety of the children.
