Two More Mississippians Die From West Nile

Two more West Nile deaths were reported by Mississippi health officials today, raising the total to six in the state. The deaths occurred in Jones and Hinds counties. The state health department does identify people with West Nile.

The number of cases in Mississippi is now 144. Most of those cases are encephalitis and meningitis - the more severe form of the West Nile infection. The ages of those who have died from West Nile in Mississippi range from 48 to 84.

West Nile has been found in either humans, birds, horse or mosquitoes in 77 counties.
