The owners of two pit bulldogs that attacked a Gautier teenager have been charged with malicious neglect and violation of leash laws. Police Chief Allen Johnson says Catherine Bunch Durham of Pascagoula and her 17-year-old son, Charles Bunch of Gautier, will have a hearing later this month in city court. Johnson says there have been several complaints about the dogs.
He says the most serious case was August 18th when the two dogs allegedly attacked 18-year-old Wesley Lyles. Lyles told police he was walking by the Bunch house when the dogs chased him into a ditch. The mother of the alleged victim says her son was repeatedly bitten and scratched. She says Lyles was saved by a passer-by who chased the dogs away. Bunch told police officers that he let the dogs out for just a minute and went inside his home only briefly.
