Live united

Recently, you may have seen the United Way of South Mississippi's TV ads and billboards with volunteers wearing the "Live United" T-shirts. United Way of South Mississippi has joined the national "Live United" movement, which encourages people to give, advocate and volunteer.

The United Way believes that if each person does their part, together we can ensure a better tomorrow for everyone. There is no doubt that these are very challenging times in our economy. However, that makes the need to invest in our community all the more urgent.

Your contributions help local organizations bring about lasting, measurable and positive change in South Mississippi. This year, United Way of South Mississippi is investing one-point-two million dollars in programs with more than 40 agencies. These programs help with child and youth development, affordable housing, and mental health.

Remember, "Live United" means we each do our best to give, advocate, and volunteer so that everyone in our community can enjoy a better life.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com, or post your comments below.
